These 30 regional finalists were selected from over 360 entries from all around New Zealand. The four national IHC Art Award winners were announced at an event in Wellington on 16 August.

Paul is fascinated with maps, street names, morning routines, TV guides and emergency services. He researches and depicts the names and places. Each of these notes are Paul's chosen topic for his project of the day and serve as a reminder for future topics of research. These are a collection of words that Paul has used over the last 18 months which he posted in his word box. Paul has grouped the words to satisfy his sense of order.

Cherie uses stickers and ink in her art, she enjoys the repetitive process of overlapping the stickers. She starts around the outside and moves into the middle, then meticulously draws over the top of the work. Cherie won first prize in the IHC Art Awards in 2009 and was also a finalist in the COCA Contemporary Art Awards. When asked why she works this way Cherie replied "I like it, I love it".

"It looks like the Lotto spinning wheel where the balls go round and prizes get won." Denise wanted to fill the dispenser with lollies. Pieces of dowel were cut, Denise sanded and painted them.Denise is a prolific artist who mostly paints or draws. This 3D piece is an interesting departure for her.
